Personal Statement

​

"Thank you for allowing me to be your PUD Commissioner for the past 18 years.  As a business owner, involved citizen in our community and experienced member of the PUD Commission, I am committed to maintaining low power rates, reliable utility services and a sustainable fiber buildout; furthering the public power benefit program; and paying down debt. I am a believer of local decision-making and governmental transparency. I hold in highest regard a process that invites all voices to be heard, civil debate and decisions made creating the best outcome for the majority.

Campaign Commitment

To ensure Chelan County citizens receive the lowest cost power available, the most reliable service and consistent customer-friendly assistance achievable through:

  • Attentiveness to customer/owner suggestions and concerns

  • Remaining knowledgeable about the outside influences impacting our utilities

  • Working with the Commission and Management as a  team

  • Listening to the ideas and concerns of PUD employees

  • Conducting business with a clear vision for the future

  • Making decisions on a sound financial basis

  • Elected experience includes 8 years on Cashmere School Board (3 years as chair)

  • 18 years on Chelan County PUD board (3 years as president)

 

Other personal experience

  • 43 years of tree fruit production in Cashmere;

  • 11 years as member of Tree Top Board of Directors (3 years as chair)

  • Past President of the Washington PUD Association

  • Past Chairman of the American Public Power Association  Policy Maker's Council.

  • Cashmere High School graduate;

  • AA Wenatchee Valley College

  • Bachelor of Arts from Central Washington University

  • Graduate of the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Program

 

Community Service

  • Board Member of the Community Foundation of North Central Washington

  • 35 years active Cashmere Rotarian and past President; 

  • Founder of the Chelan County-Issyk Kul, Kyrgyzstan sister region initiative

  • 17 years volunteer citizen advocate for Washington State University in Washington DC (Past National Chair of this effort)

  • Past board member of Wenatchee Valley College Foundation

  • Past board member of the Wenatchee “Supporters of the Center”

  • Past President of the Washington State Horticultural Association

  • Past President of the Washington Ag. President’s organization.

  • 2018 Northwest Public Power Paul Raver Community Service Award
